Staying Safe: A Reminder from OSHA

Does your facility use meat grinders? The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recently sent out a reminder to keep your team members’ safe when working with this machinery. OSHA recommends that employees working with this equipment be trained to:

1. Only use a proper plunger when feeding meat into grinders.
2. Operate grinders only when feeding trays and throats have been installed.
3. Use the meat grinder only for its intended purpose.
4. Turn off and unplug grinders when not in use or when left unattended for any period of time.
