Pen Pals and Traveling Bear Programs Conclude

Recently, we told you about Hixson’s participation in Repair Affair, an annual event designed to help low-income residents with much-needed home repairs. Another way that Hixson gives back to our communities is through our work with our Partner in Education: St. Francis de Sales School. This past week, we celebrated the year-end conclusion of two of our programs with St. Francis: Pen Pals and Traveling Bears.

• Second-grade students were excited to meet the Hixson associates who served as their Pen Pals this past school year. Each student got to meet and sit with their Pen Pal and other friends and enjoy some pizza for lunch and talk about their summer plans.
• Also wrapping up was the Traveling Bears program. First-grade students were eager to discover where their bears had “traveled” this year (courtesy of Hixson associates), and were thrilled to have their bears return after receiving post cards from them throughout the school year.
