A Trunkful of Help: Hixson Participates in Canstruction
Contributing creatively to the communities in which we live and work is a core value at Hixson. As part of this commitment, Hixson once again proudly participated in Cincinnati Canstruction, a community service project which benefits the Freestore Foodbank. The Hixson entry, “Elephant in the Room,” honors the newly re-opened Elephant Trek from Cincinnati’s world-famous zoo and botanical garden. According to the Hixson team, the structure, “recreates the scene of a single elephant emerging from the bamboo to take a drink in the river that flows through a traditional Hashi bridge,” while the name of the entry “alludes to the thousands of people in the Cincinnati area living with food insecurity.”
To create the elephant and surrounding structure, 3800 food items were required, including cans of beans, sloppy joes, corn, pineapple, peas, tomatoes, peaches and soup, as well as chips and cereal. Hixson’s entry will be on display at the Scripps Center through April 13, at which time all the food items will be donated to the Cincinnati Freestore Foodbank. See it today!
