Associate Walk-a-Mile Report: Maple Leaf Foods

Continuous Improvement is part of our DNA here at Hixson. One way that we do this is through Walk-a-Miles. Through these professional development experiences, our associates have the opportunity to learn, grow, and improve in their fields.

Recently, several Hixson associates recently travelled to London, Ontario (Canada) to meet up with team members at Maple Leaf Foods to hear how things are going in their Hixson designed facility, find out what is working well, and identify areas for improvement.

Here are just a few of the findings reported by the team from their visit:

• “Featuring lots of natural light and views to the outdoors, the office lobby and reception area was impressive to see firsthand as completed. If you are a first-time visitor, it’s hard to imagine that you are walking into an industrial facility!”
• “The pride that the client has in their new facility clearly shows. They’re doing a great job in keeping the facility in optimum running condition!”
• “The plant was extremely happy about having a viewing corridor they have been able to use to give tours to existing customers, visitors, etc. This allows them the ability to showcase the plant and be able to easily conduct conversations without being on the production floor.”
• “This will be one of the most memorable projects of my career. The scale, duration, and innovation required for this project is not typical, but the whole Hixson team can be proud of this project.”
