PETNET Solutions

Cincinnati, OH

When PETNET Solutions, a division of Siemens Healthineers, required a new manufacturing facility for the specialized production and distribution of short half-life radioisotopes used in Positron Emission Tomography (PET) diagnostic imaging, they selected Hixson.  At start-up, the greenfield 7,500 SF facility houses one cyclotron – the equipment required to develop radioisotopes, but can accommodate a second machine as needs increase.  Having ISO-7 and ISO-8 cleanrooms within the facility meant that HVAC requirements for air pressurization and exhaust were of particular concern. Utility and air handling unit redundancy were included to always maintain the desired air volume and pressurization within the cleanrooms, while proper gowning and ante-lock rooms help control access and contain radiation. An accompanying manufacturing and dispensing suite provides the space necessary for lab personnel to create the usable medical-grade product on a 24/7 basis to quickly service local hospitals and imaging centers.
