Great Place to Work: Welcoming New Associates

Recently, Hixson announced that we have been named as a Great Place to Work®.  This award was received based on a confidential survey of Hixson’s 130 associates. During the coming weeks, we will share key findings from the survey.

In today’s post, we are looking at one of the key results from the survey: 94% of our associates said that “when you join the company, you are made to feel welcome.”

From the moment a new Hixson associate arrives at our location here in the beautiful Cincinnati neighborhood of Mt. Adams, we strive to make their entry into our firm as smooth as possible. All new associates (and other visitors!) are greeted by our beginningist.^* After introductions to their fellow department teammates, new associates then meet with their Hixson ambassador: This person plays the critical role of helping new associates assimilate into our culture, answering any  questions, how things work around here, etc.  New associates are then given a tour of our facility, meeting members of other departments as they travel through.

However, their journey does not end with Day 1. Throughout the first year of their employment with Hixson, new associates are invited to meet regularly with fellow newbies as part of the First Year Experience, a series of eight sessions on topics specially selected for new hires during their first year at Hixson. Led by various Hixson Subject Matter Experts, these sessions are designed to help associates fully acclimate to the Hixson culture!
