Hixson Names Two as Teachers of the Year!

Hixson is excited to announce that we have named two Teachers of the Year for the 2024-2025 school year! Congratulations go to:

  • Emily Schulte, who teaches second grade at St. Mary’s School in Hyde Park. Ms. Schulte taught the son of Hixson Civil Engineer Mark Zilli.  In his nomination, Mark noted that, “with a class of 30 students, Ms. Schulte is able to give individualized care to each student. Because of this, my son is comfortable, engaged, and enthused with his studies at school.”
  • Celeste Hill-Brockett, who teaches sixth-grade math at Beechwood Elementary to the son of Hixson Director of Business Development, Nathan Arnold. In his nomination, Nathan commented, “Ms. Hill-Brockett goes out of her way to support her students. She takes the extra time to know her students and what they are struggling with. She even takes time out of her weekend to attend her students’ extra-curricular games!”

The Hixson Teacher of the Year program, which began in 1991 as a way for Hixson to honor the outstanding work teachers do to educate the next generation, allows Hixson associates to nominate the K-12 teachers of their children or grandchildren. Nominees receive a monetary gift and a commemorative plaque.  To date, Hixson has awarded more than $155,000 to outstanding local teachers during the program’s lifetime!
